The Wackerlin Center staff is deeply grateful for the many ways that our campus colleagues have partnered with us throughout the year to serve and support students. At the close of another academic year, we are mindful of just how generous and kind the members of our community are. In this final newsletter, we highlight just a few of the ways that your collective efforts have impacted the experiences of AU students. We wish each you well as we finish this semester and look towards summer.
In solidarity,
Justin West

The Impact of Libby's Place
|
This on-campus food pantry continues to meet the need of food insecurity among AU students. Thank you for the many ways that you contributed to keeping this resource stocked throughout the year. Your donations of food and hygiene items as well as financial gifts have played a significant role in sustaining this effort. Below is a snapshot of how Libby’s Place impacted students this year:

Celebrating Safe Zone Training!
|
Thank you to everyone who participated in the inaugural year of AU's Safe Zone Training! We had nearly 70 employees participate in Safe Zone Training 1.0. Of that number, 45 took Safe Zone 2.0 to become campus allies!
If you haven’t already, you will begin seeing Safe Zone stickers and placards popping up in workspaces around campus. These indicate that a staff member (or an entire office!) has participated in both trainings and is a committed ally. Join us in celebrating the inclusion that is being practiced campus-wide!
A special thank you to Chris Smith, Jen Mozina, and Zach Bishop for bringing Safe Zone to AU and to the newest members of the training team: Elizabeth Okrzesik, Lisa Matich, and Cody Mars.

Announcing the 2024-2025
Aurora University Belong Cohort
|
An exciting benefit of AU’s participation in the CIC/ACUE Belong Learning Community is that six community members receive access to its nationally recognized credentialing course, “Fostering a Culture of Belonging.” This course engages learners on issues such as “bias, imposter phenomenon, stereotype threat, and macroaggression” with the purpose of creating inclusive campuses and learning environments. We are pleased to announce the members who will participate as Aurora University’s Second Belong Cohort. These colleagues will take the course this summer and return with ideas to implement inclusive practices on campus:
